Who even am I?

Well, I'm Steph! Welcome to my Blog!

Lifelong Hypermobility warrior and Sleep lover!

Eyup! That's Hello for all my non-northern readers!

If you've followed me for a while, you kind of already know my deal. But if you're new here, let me give you a bit of background.

I've been hypermobile my whole life, but I only realised it was even a 'thing' about 13 years ago when I became pregnant. Lying on the physio couch after being referred with back pain, the lovely Physio lady (doing all the usual flexibility tests) lifted my ankle off the bed, and my knee stayed on the bed! Needless to say she was pretty shocked! And since that day I've been on a journey! I've had to learn just about everything I now know about Hypermobility myself, as very few medical professionals actually know how much it affects people.

Hypermobility, spoonie, rheumatoid arthritis

How things have changed over the years

With each year that has passed since then, my health has changed. It feels like it's been pretty much one thing after another. I tried walking to lose weight and be more active. That damaged my knees. I've had to quit jobs and give up businesses because each one caused too much pain in one part of my body or another. And now, with a very probably diagnosis of Rheumatoid arthritis at 36 years of age, I'm faced with having to make some serious lifestyle changes if I want to be able to manage even the simplest of daily tasks, like showering or washing my hair.

One thing I've found on my journey is that most of the support out there is aimed at people over 50. And while that's great and I'm happy there is support out there, a lot of it isn't relevant to those my age, and younger! And it's becoming more and more obvious that there are a lot of young people out there dealing with chronic pain and joint conditions!

So what now?

Well this is where this blog will come in! I'm going to be sharing my journey, my tips, things I've struggled with or found really helpful over the years!

And along with that, I have a Facebook group where young people in the same or similar situation can reach out, vent and connect with others!

So what about you? I'd love to hear how you found this website! And if you feel like you'd benefit, please jump into the Facebook group, which will be opening soon!

I can't wait to see you there!

Gentle Hugs
